What is Meta Quest+? The trend for gaming subscription services continues to gain momentum in 2024, and Meta was quick to jump on the bandwagon after the release of the Meta Quest 3. However, the company’s service is a bit more similar to the traditional PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold models, rather than a Game Pass-like service.
In my Meta Quest 3 review, I highlighted it as one of the best VR headsets around, thanks to the headset’s increased power and performance, as well as its mixed reality innovations that have only gotten stronger since its launch. Meta Quest+ Pricing
A Meta Quest+ subscription costs $7.99 / £7.99 per month, but you can also subscribe for a year for $59.99 / £59.99 upfront.
When you purchase the 512GB model of Meta Quest 3, you will receive a 6-month subscription to Meta Quest+. After this free period ends, standard pricing will apply. Even the free trial requires that you have a payment method associated with your Oculus account to start a subscription. The 128GB model offers a 1-month free trial.
How do free games work on Meta Quest+?
Every month, two select VR games will be made available on Meta Quest+ for you to download at no additional cost, and you can play these games as long as you have an active subscription.
Following the PS Plus model, once Meta Quest+ games are added to your account, they’re free to play as long as you have an active subscription.
If your Meta Quest+ subscription lapses for any reason, you will lose access to all titles on the service. Luckily, to regain access, simply restart your subscription.
As stated in the terms and conditions, Meta Quest+ games do not include DLC, only the base game.
Meta Quest+ Free Games Library
In addition to the monthly free games, there’s also a small games library full of games that don’t change very often but are available to download and play for as long as your subscription is active.
Unlike Games of the Month, these titles are never owned by you, meaning once a game leaves your library, it is no longer yours and you will no longer have access to it.
How to subscribe to Meta Quest+
You can subscribe to Meta Quest+ directly from your Meta Quest 3, 2, or Pro headset, or via the Oculus mobile or tablet app.
If you go to the menu section of the app, you’ll find the option to subscribe to Meta Quest+ in the top left corner. For instructions on how to subscribe via headset, this option is only available in the Explore tab. This will redirect you to the store page, but you won’t be able to search for the subscription directly at this time. This will be updated in the future.
