Airplane emergency
In the book, Wilmer recalls a terrifying, “shaky” plane trip with his friends. That ’70s Show Ashton and his co-stars Danny Masterson According to Us Weekly.
“After the Super Bowl, a group of actors and crew were flying from New Orleans back to Hollywood, and nothing about the flight was smooth,” Wilmer explains in his memoir. “A winter storm was brewing in the sky, and the atmosphere on the plane was unsettling. … Outside, there was nothing but darkness and sleet. The plane was pitching up and down and rocking back and forth. I was feeling dizzy. I was having trouble breathing.”
Soon, the pilot announced the plane was shaking, and Wilmer recalled hearing oxygen masks being dropped from above.
“Oxygen masks fell from the ceiling, and we wondered if they’d come loose from turbulence or if there was something else going on,” Wilmer wrote in the book. “We fumbled around for them. Something was definitely wrong with this plane. … Ashton’s jaw dropped and he dropped to his knees.”
After thinking the plane was “going to crash,” the actor recalled that he “had a hard time imagining the best-case scenario where[the plane]crashed high up on the mountainside and they didn’t find us.”
Despite the horrific ordeal, Wilmer managed to inject some wit into the story. In one excerpt, he writes: Grey’s Anatomy The alum joked that if he were stranded on the mountains, “Ashton would have a hard time deciding who to eat first. It would probably be me, because he loves Latin American food.”
When the plan finally worked, Wilmer noted that the whole group “cheered, but it felt like our lives had just ended in an instant,” and it wasn’t a “happy cheer” because everyone felt their lives were in danger.
