Empire Age 2 The Definitive Edition has been ongoing for more than five years since its launch, but it is holding the flag for the 1999 classic strategy game. We know another new DLC is on the way soon, and World’s Edge revealed that it will introduce five – yes, Five – A new civilization. However, before it arrives, there should be a huge new update that will be charged to be one of the most important things in AOE 2 history. Because of its size and importance, the Edge of the World dropped its “legendary long” patch notes about a month earlier.
Let’s talk first about that massive update. Because it affects and strengthens almost every corner of the Empire era. I can guarantee you because the strategy game is touted as “one of the biggest updates” that I have received so far from the world’s dominance and not overstolen it.
Buried in the thousands of words in the patch notes, there are plenty of improvements and fixes to AI units behaviour, technology and civic bonus terms, and balanced campaign scenarios. There is also a section dedicated to fixing issues related to the fight for Greece’s expansion last year.
While there is no exact release date for this huge new update to Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition yet, World’s Edge says it can expect a confirmed date in “mid-April.” The fact that they have released this early draft of patch notes so far is a good thing.
Also, peppered throughout the patch is clearly a clue about some small Easter eggs and what could be included in the next DLC for AOE 2. It’s good to find them, it may take a while! Luckily, we found a nugget of information about the new extension easily. According to the Edge of the World, five new civilizations are included, all of which are subject to competitive play.
