With some combination of gadgets and beat-up old station wagons, who knew you could survive a supernatural disaster? It’s not me. But that’s exactly that Pacific Drive He taught me. This criminally underrated survival game may have gotten a bit of a bumpy start last year, but it actually sees its progress when it comes to delivering meaningful and fun post-launch content. Now developer Ironwood Studios has announced that it is the “largest and best” update for Pacific Drive.
The addition of the headline for this new Pacific Drive update, titled Endless Expeditions, is ERM, Expedition. It’s endless. This new feature allows you to embark on a continuous road trip, centering around eerie recreation in the Pacific Northwest to earn unique and desirable rewards. Called a “dangerous” expedition that “tests even the most seasoned bleachers”, this will add a new layer of challenge and endurance to the survival game.
The details of these infinite expeditions are a bit thin at the moment, but the obvious trailer for the update shows a variety of vast layouts on the route planner screen, which looks like the various difficulty and gameplay modifiers that need to be explained.
Given that you may be on these trips for quite some time, there are important new quality features added to help you with both endless expeditions and regular adventures. The Suspend Run feature allows you to pause and save an ongoing run, allowing you to return to where you left off without losing progress and come back straight away.
Regarding other gameplay improvements, there are several upgrades to the tools your character equips, such as a thermal vacuum, a plasma mask raper, a cluster spawning system, and a new trader called IDA that you will encounter while exploring. As for the extra content, there are new ornaments to find and display in the garage, faxes packed with new lore to listen to, and new music on the radio for over an hour.
“Really, this is our biggest and greatest update,” says Ironwood. The reason is clear. An endless expedition alone will not only bring more replayability to Pacific Drive, but also bring new challenges for those who feel they are surviving in their wagons.
Pacific Drive’s Infinite Expedition Update arrives on Thursday, April 3rd, and is free for all players.
