After a long wait, Stalker 2 finally arrived late last year and firmly followed up to one of the best apocalypse games ever made. Despite working hard on sequels, its creators continue to pay attention to the trilogy that launched the series. Stalker: The Shadow of CornovilleClear Sky, and the Call of Prepiat as the three “Expanded Editions” that make up Starcar: The Legend of the Zone Collection. These remasters were not exactly hits. Players cite serious performance issues. Fortunately, Creator GSC Game World continues to address these issues and publishes new updates that offer a wide range of fixes.
Stalker: Shadow of Chornobyl was first launched in 2007 all along. This welcomes the prospect of a version with new visuals, design tweaks, gamepads and modern hardware support. However, implementing all these changes properly is more difficult than expected.
Today’s patch 1.3 introduces “many bug fixes, major font overhauls for a more familiar look, and new quality features in the game that make up the Legends of the Zone” as per the steam description. The latter feature brings the quick slot system from Pripyat’s Call of Pripyat to previous entries in the trilogy, Chornobyl’s Shadow and Clear Sky. The font changes will make the text closer to its original style and increase the size of the steam deck. The bug fix adjusts everything from blank blur and hidden information glitches to locking hand animations while wearing the common issues with Seba suits and crashes.
GSC Game World has also been added to many community-made modifications recorded in updated credit sequences.
