I play a lot of dungeons and dragons – in fact there are too many dungeons and dragons. I have a character of every opportunity, a stupid idea for every life and death scenario, and a good ol’lute to play if it all goes to hell. The world of high fantasy is my favorite to explore and is aptly named Dungeons and Kingdoms We provide all of that. A blend of heavy, boss-focused combat from soul srikes and the best RPGs with Manor Road city buildings and resource management will be coming to steam later this year, but before that there will be a demo set. Adventure and activate your shoes.
You are the leader of a tired band of refugees who took them to the high seas to escape their “unpotential” homeland. After months of searching, you have found your new paradise: a rich and vibrant fantasy world waiting to explore. The emerald Plains spread out in the distance, waiting for every corner. Part City Building Games, some action RPGs, dungeons, and kingdoms provide keys to their kingdoms and say they have them.
Like all the best survival games, you need to carve out your new life from scratch. Your early hours are spent making pieces of equipment, foraging local leaves, and interacting with low-level creatures. The new trailer looks like it can recruit animal companions as the adorable cubic fox gets the obvious putt on its head.
Once your village grows from a dusty settlement into a functioning fortress, the village can turn the land into a terra so that the farmers can do simple tasks, build deep valleys to drive out intruders, and create roads to improve trade. You can choose from over 500 building types. Plus, further down, you can create your own and then share it with your Steam Workshop.
But this gorgeous new world is not without danger. That is where the “dungeon” part of “Dungeons and Kingdoms” comes in. You will need to dig into mystical underground caves to defeat all kinds of predators to secure land and acquire new gear that can upgrade the city’s technology. You will see a variety of enemy types, including everything from snake-like creatures digging into holes to giant demons and, of course, dragons that look slow and systematic in combat.

But for me, what brings all this together is the art style of dungeons and kingdoms. It has the angular pixel feel of games like Valheim and Old School Runescape. As a lover of Pretty Games, developer Camran carves all the right boxes.
The Dungeons and Kingdoms will arrive in Steam Early Access in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will be released at Steam Next Fest in October. Speaking of SNF, there is a free demo from Monday, October 13th to Monday, October 20th. In the meantime, you can keep it on your wish list here.
