I remember the time Destiny 2 Previously big thing. I’m more of a fantasy enthusiast than an intergalactic traveler, but I’ve always had the bungee mammoth MMO deep inside my mind as something to try. However, when I recorded this morning, I found many comments on the game’s subreddit that claimed this was “the worst week in all fateful history.” It’s enough to intrigue my interest, and it seems like the game’s ashes and iron updates, as well as the consistent recycling of vault content, is at the heart of the discourse.
Although 79% of Destiny 2’s lifetime steam reviews are positive, negative feedback has increased significantly since September 9th, and since the release of Ash and Iron, the game has received more negative responses than positive.
However, looking at the edge of Fate’s Steam page, it’s far more disastrous. Recent reviews show that lifetime scores are 36% and extremely 10% tested positive. There have been days when there were zero positive responses, and 57 negative reviews are seen on September 15th. Players claim that the game has “no soul” and others say it is “the worst update I’ve ever seen in a video game.” So what happened?
One important issue appears to be a consistent change in the weapon meta. As expansion slows and seasons progress, players have discovered that hard-earned exotics quickly become redundant as more augmented systems are integrated into gameplay. Just as bad as it is with armor, older pieces often become arched and then returned to the in-game store. Worse, gear wipes mean that every time there is a new expansion, the score goes back to 200, and many people ask, “What is the point?”
This stands out at the edge of the portal system of fate and ashes and irons. However, when you purchase the Premium Battle Pass, you will receive the Portal Engram Boost. This will increase your chances of earning Prime Engram rewards. The latter effect can stack up to 15% during the season, with u/the_mythrez claiming that “bungees are invading the territory.”
But more than anything, it seems Bungie has lost her way in Destiny 2. “This should be the worst week in fateful history,” writes u/itzdrshadow. “It feels like today our community of destiny is in mourning. We have lost someone we really love,” reads another post.

Future Star Wars Renegaze updates look great, but they have to work hard to get players back together. With no indication of “Destiny 3” and the marathon’s release date indefinitely behind, we’ll have to wait for what happens next.
