Although it’s not a full-fledged role-playing adventure like Baldur’s Gate 3 or Pathfinder. final fantasy 16 One of the best RPGs I’ve ever played. Combining Devil May Cry-esque action with Game of Thrones-esque storytelling, alongside the series’ customary apocalyptic magical stakes, Final Fantasy 16 is a true masterpiece in my eyes. If you want to try it out along with two great DLCs, the full version is now cheaper than ever. However, the sale period is not long, so you need to buy it early.
Set in the mystical and political backdrop of Vallistair, you play as Clive Rothfield, Rosalia’s first shield, who has a younger brother named Joshua. Although Clive does not inherit the power of the Phoenix, one of the many Akons in Final Fantasy 16, he is gifted with it and is tasked with protecting his brother, the ruler of the Phoenix.
A cinematic story takes you into a world of chaos and political assassination. Clive is seriously injured and is forced to become the bearer of another kingdom. Considering the base game itself has around 40 hours of main story content, you can imagine that a lot happens. It features larger-than-life beasts and powerful magic users, and also focuses on the interpersonal drama between Clive and his allies and rivals.
I quickly fell in love with the world of Ballistair, and the combat is the best part. While it’s not a character action game like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, it does a fine job of following that line, giving Clive a wealth of skills to unlock that will help him create some intense and powerful combos. Some of the later battles hit the sweet spot of fun and adrenaline-inducing chaos, especially when it comes to boss battles.
While the base game is solid enough on its own, Final Fantasy 16’s two post-release DLCs add a lot to the story, and both are on sale. Set before the events of the final episode, Echoes of the Fallen lets you explore an ancient tower with Jill. The Rising Tide, on the other hand, features an entirely new skill set and a more story-focused expansion of the world. As far as I’m concerned, both are great, but it’s The Rising Tide that really blew my socks off.
If you’re a Final Fantasy fan or interested in the series, Final Fantasy 16 Complete Edition is currently available at Humble Bundle for $34.99 / £32.49, giving you a huge 50% off the entire experience. As someone who paid full price for both the game and the Expansion Pass at launch, I have absolutely no regrets. And considering it’s 50% off here? Yes, it brings me to a final state of ecstasy.
However, this discount will expire at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT on Thursday, December 11, 2025, so it won’t take long to snag this deal.. You never know when you’ll see a discount like this next, so don’t miss out.
