I must be fast asleep already, because I’ve been dreaming of a new Darksiders game for years, and finally, darksiders 4 is coming. There’s no release date yet, but this cult classic series has some of the best action games I’ve played, and I plan on playing the new one on day one. If you’d like to join me on a post-apocalyptic adventure with the Horsemen, all current games are up to 90% off for a short period of time.
It all starts with Darksiders. Specifically, the Warmastered Edition. In this edition, you play as War, who is stripped of his powers and given one last chance after being tricked into ending the world prematurely. The forces of Hell have taken over Earth, and you’ll hack and slash your way through the demons in an experience familiar to Devil May Cry fans as you uncover the truth about what happened.
Then you have the amazing (and fan favorite) Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition. If the lame pun didn’t catch you, now you play as a dead man who wakes up by the end of the day. The gameplay this time around is more like an RPG, as you seek to thwart an ancient grudge that threatens all of creation, while exploring ways to unlock potential loot and skills to overcome your enemies. No pressure, I promise.
Darksiders and its sequel offered a slightly different genre, and Darksiders 3 does the same. This time, you play as Fury, armed with his trusty powerful whip, as he returns to Earth to defeat the Seven Deadly Sins, and the gameplay is close to Souls-like, requiring thoughtful slashing and all-important dodging. This is my personal favorite of the trio so far, and it’s what got me hooked on the genre before diving into the Dark Souls titles.
All three games are included in the Blade & Whip franchise pack, and Fanatical is offering a massive 75% off on the three experiences, reduced to $19.99 / £17.74. That’s a savings of around $50 / £43. If you want to enjoy the bundle to the end, Darksiders Genesis, a prequel that offers the same chaotic gameplay in an isometric view, is also reduced to just $7.49 / £6.74 at Fanatical. Additionally, all three games are sold separately if you want to play the series to completion but have already played the other games.
Even though I’ve played them all many times over the years, I’m still tempted to play Darksiders 4 again before it’s released. It also looks like it will introduce cooperative elements and solid action combat with all of the Four Horsemen, which is exciting. I hope you have a great time.
