What happens when you take the concept of an Overwatch hero shooter and throw it into a street full of unfriendly inhabitants? Well, you get something like a completely slippery FPS-Brawler hybrid Neighbors’ suburban warwhat is that? With the lineup of hyper aggressive characters that go far beyond simply reporting you to the HOA, this is one of the strangest and most confusing PVP multiplayer games I’ve seen in a long time. After announcing this week’s steam release date, it has launched an open beta, attracting an incredible number of players.
We’ve known about the war on the outskirts of neighbors for a while, but it’s time for everyone to spin it. With some ranged combat and team composition in the FPS game, including Overwatch, Close-up Melee Brawls and basic defensive elements, it’s already a rather wild cocktail. You then chuck that cocktail into the town of Heartville, where a white picket fence becomes a battle line, and Doreen is even more ridiculous as a sweet old lady pulls her boxing gloves along the way.
In Neighbor, you will choose from a lineup of characters with different abilities (8 at the time of release). The goal of the main game mode is to essentially destroy the opposing team valuables found in the home base.
Before the match begins, using a short prep phase will build up defense and prevent attempts to break down the enemy’s stuff by setting traps around your own home. After this stage is over, it’s time to collide. Maybe you can sneak into your opponent’s house without being noticed and grind it as much as you can before you can find it. Or knock out members of the opposition and give you and your team a window of destruction while they reduce the numbers and wait for respawn. Additional traps and items can also be purchased in the middle of a match against the currencies you have acquired.
Looking at most clips in the open beta version of multiplayer games, things seem to be very brawl-focused at the moment. Everyone loves tossing with Doreen. However, you will soon find that within the roster of eight characters, there are alternatives, such as ranged abilities, support heroes, and stealth characters that allow you to choose and scan enemy locks.
That’s a ridiculous premise for PVP games, but the beginning of that open beta couldn’t really get better for the game of its scope and style. Thousands of people flocked to it today, currently open to all steam players for free. Its peak concurrent player count reached the top of the team, exceeding 8,800.
If you would like to participate, the open beta version of Neighbor Suburban War will be live on Monday, March 24th at 2am PDT / 5am EDT / 9am / 10am. The game’s early access launch is scheduled to arrive on Thursday, April 17th.
Until then, here are some of the best fighting games for everyone you brawl. Alternatively, these cooperative games are also an explosion to play with friends.
