San Diego (Border Report) – Head of a bilateral consumer group in the Baja San Diego region is urging Mexicans to boycott US and American-made products.
In an interview with Tijuana’s El Sol newspaper, Dennis Leon Baron said his organization, Mexican-American Self-Help (Mash), is seeking boycotts because the Trump administration uses immigrants as “political peens and scapegoats.”
Baron said this is one way Mexican citizens take action against anti-immigration policies and tariffs brought about by President Donald Trump.
He especially asks Mexicans to travel to the United States, use or consume products made north of the border, or go to a 15-minute halt of work if they work for an American company.
“This is a call for boycotts for US visitors,” Baron told El Sol. “Mexicans should take leave anywhere outside the United States, where Trump asserts that every Mexican crosses the border is a drug trafficker, rapist or murderer.”
Baron also asks the Mexican government to stop extradition of drug traffickers to the United States, in order to “they don’t get a fair trial.”
“Mexico and its citizens cannot stay with their arms crossed,” he said.
