If you ask I died in the daytime Players who list the top three changes they want to see in asymmetric horror games bet on the good money that the challenge system is there. In its current form it is very dull, outdated and jerky. Well, the change is finally underway. During the latest developer stream, it becomes clear that the issues are binning as you know, and will be more seamless and annoying for them DBD Quest system.
Most eyes are pinned to the new murderers who have arrived at today’s dead, but the Ghoul, Ken Kaneki – the hardworking player will be excited to learn that an overhaul into the challenge system is coming. This is part of an even bigger change that ensures that the archive is discarded and all systems within it are split into new sections in the main menu. According to Mockups in Horror Game’s Future UI, the new DBD Challenges system, known as Future Quest, lives in the Rift Pass section.
Players are tired of the challenge system. This is primarily because you need to manually opt-in to select the exact challenge you want to take on, allowing you to pursue only one at a time. Action interactive is flipping it over your head in a quest. The tasks you are asked to perform remain roughly the same, but automatically advance towards all active quests without the need to select individually manually.
“You don’t need to choose a quest anymore,” says Brandon Silveira, product manager at DBD. “They will all be available at the same time right away. You will be able to complete just as much as your mind wants, as you want, in court. So it’s far less practical control that players need to do. It’s all happening automatically.”
This new system breaks things up into several different types of quests. For example, Daily Rituals are renamed Daily Quests, making them more active and more proactive at the moment they spin. It also makes for a slightly easier goal compared to what you see in the ritual. “You can knock out one or two every day within one trial without thinking about them,” Silveira says.
There will then be a weekly Rift Pass quest with more creative and character-specific goals that will tie you into the current theme. Pass each week and a new stack of quests arrives, but will be available to complete during that lift.
In addition to this, there are milestone quests to work as well. These challenges come in different stages, with themes of specific mechanics and in-game action. For example, there is a hook-themed quest that involves placing a task by hooking five survivors in the first stage. Then, the second one is to have 10 hooked survivors. These are not long-term “career” goals, but they will be reset at the end of each lift.
Finally, event-themed goals are also drawn into this new system, known as event quests.
The new Quests system will arrive by daytime at the launch of the next Tome, which is expected to arrive by the end of June 2025.
This is a very large and welcome shakeup for some of the DBDs that have been weighing heavily on players for a while. This makes things very grim, allowing players to actually avoid the killer and more time to corner survivors rather than go through the menu to activate the quest before each trial.
