The original endzone is a certified hidden gem. With the spiritual combination of fallout, city skylines and the beloved and beloved exile of Luke Hodrowicz, it will take you into the aftermath of the end of the world, and the village of fledgling survivalists. Deep system; gorgeous, steampunk-influenced visuals. The subtle mix of relaxed city builders and high-intensity strategy games – the endzone was obviously found in Canon, a cult PC hit. However, the sequel is struggling. The foundation is strong. Previous updates have made some important changes. However, it has been six months since launch End Zone 2 I’m still finding my legs. “There’s room for improvement,” developer head Matthias Gantram gently admits. Speaking only to , he explains how Endzone 2 is installing a comeback.
That’s not all bad. On the contrary, Endzone 2’s user score has risen. Based on reviews posted in the last 30 days, the strategy game has received a very important “almost positive” rating on Steam. However, the rest of Guntrum and Gentlymad recognize that players are not completely satisfied. For some series fans, Endzone 2 is too similar to the original game and cannot be fully justified in the sequel. For others, it’s too different and fundamentally compromises what makes the first endzone work. At the moment, the focus of the gentle mad is on finding harmony between the fighting philosophical parents in Endzone 2.
“Our goal was to create a valuable successor and include many features players wanted in the end zone, but we came across feedback that felt that End Zone 2 was completely different from the original,” says Gantram. “This change in direction of gameplay has surprised some of the returning players, and we understand that not everyone is expecting such a change in focus. That is, they are actively working on gradually reintroducing the features and mechanics familiar from the first game, while still maintaining the core vision of Endzone 2.”
Compared to the original, which was a bit easier, Endzone 2 feels like a factory simulation game. Buildings, logistics and economy systems have more layers and more tools to create larger settlements. Exploratory RPG elements have also become stronger. You can customize and enhance your old buses and run freely through the wastelands looking for a spot to start a new town. Somewhere here is a game where Mad and its fans gently want Endzone 2. Gantrum says that’s about balance.
“Our goal is to bridge that gap between what the returnees loved and the depth of the new gameplay we introduced,” he explains. “There’s still room for improvement. The UI can be more intuitive, especially for newcomers. Adding features like multiplayer, co-ops, story campaigns will improve your replayability. Overall, Endzone 2 will be built meaningfully with its predecessors, but there is still plenty of possibilities to expand.
“I think strategy games and city builders are definitely evolving in 2025. With so much competition, it’s no longer just about building cities and managing resources. It’s about combining these core mechanics with fresh ideas, unique settings and a new twist of gameplay.”
So, what’s coming next? How do you get a good performance? I’m having a little trouble Do you want to improve the game and it? If you start the game and it’s a total catastrophe, what needs to be fixed will probably be revealed soon. When something is on fire, at least the solution is to extinguish the flame. However, making minor corrections, small tweaks, and surgical changes requires more time and understanding. Nevertheless, there is a plan to the mud gently.
The new Endzone 2 update has just arrived, with additional construction tools, new buildings and even fresh mechanics added. Radiation is a big problem, but now there are amenities you can use to clean it up, purifying the irradiated ground before settling there. Sandstorms can now damage the building, make beer and drugs, sell them at new bars, and maintain the morale of the citizens. On the contrary, an outbreak of illness can land your people in hospitals, and you can decide and direct which resources to commit to their care – will you become a merciful or brutal pragmatist?
Still, there’s something more to come. “We have big plans for the future,” Gantram concludes. “Fans of Endzone have been craving since launch…” He can’t say what this is yet, but hopes to mark another step in Enzone 2’s comeback journey.
The Gantram can’t say exactly what that is. However, despite the vast competition in the current strategy genre and the fact that they struggled in August, Endzone 2 feels they can find the same or greater success as its predecessor.
