Authorities say the man was killed Sunday morning in a car accident after heading to the firefighters at the Pacoima intersection.
The Los Angeles Fire Station engine answered the call and at about 10:45am, Jodie McGee of the valley transport department of the Los Angeles Police Station, when the southbound Toyota Corolla made a left turn from Terravella Street in front of the fire truck on San Fernando Road.
“The collision happened,” McGee said. “The Toyota Corolla, the driver of the vehicle, was taken to the Holy Cross, where he was pronounced.”
McGee said the engine firefighter was shaking but not injured.
LAPD is handling the investigation into the case. Police are still trying to identify the victim who McGee said he had not carried his ID. He was the only person in the flower crown.
