While mowing down hordes of demons with a roaring soundtrack, Doom: Dark Ages It’s already easily proven to be one of the best FPS games of all time. As a huge fan of the series who loves the feeling of tearing apart the warriors of Hell, the latest Doom game feels like the culmination of everything that came before, offering some of the most exciting action in the series’ history. If you haven’t tried it yet, now is your chance to buy it at the lowest price.
From the moment I threw a chainsaw-like toothed shield at a basic demon and watched it tear in half, I knew Doom: The Dark Ages was going to be one of the best action games of the year. A more cinematic approach to the story doesn’t take away from the intensity of Doom Slayer’s Weapons, but it does make the story much more interesting to experience.
A prequel to 2016’s excellent Doom, The Dark Age centers around the Doom Slayer’s hatred of hell, but also depicts Dargent d’Hneur’s Night Watch’s intense war with Prince Azraq and his legion of demons, in which the Doom Slayer is sent to help fight the demons, but is controlled by Meikle, a tool and weapon rather than a person of free will.
With Prince Azraq (get it) Once you find the Heart of Argent, which holds immense power, it’s your job to single-handedly destroy the forces of hell that stand in your way. Armed with a powerful shield that can charge enemies or throw it for another ranged attack, Doomslayer is limited only by his demon-slaying imagination, making it one of the most brutal entries on our list of the best PC games.
Despite the tear-jerking qualities common to the great Doom games, The Dark Ages feels very different from Eternal. While the latter focuses on speed and chaos, Dark Age feels more like intentional violence. Both are great, and as Aaron Down suggested in his review of Doom: The Dark Ages, it’s still “Doom at its ripping best, proving once again why ID is the father of FPS.”
