Waiting for the painful silence of GTA 6 and Rockstar continues. Schedule 1a sim of a fundamentally visible yet surprisingly deep life that you aim to become a drug dealing kingpin. After launching earlier this week, the daily player count numbers have become more and more impressive, but today, March 28th, exploded to a new level. Beyond some of Steam 1’s biggest games, Schedule 1 has comfortably beaten 200,000 concurrent player marks.
Schedule 1 has one comprehensive goal. Move from fictional weed dealer to criminal masterminds who run illegal drug scenes in the fictional city of Highland Point. You need to create an airtight business plan, deliver on amazingly large maps, either on foot or on driving, build relationships with customers and stay faithful, and push (or take out) your competitors and cartels. Of course, there are plenty of life game elements too, as you need to spend all your dirty money on something.
You don’t need to do it alone either. As with many recent Steam viral hits, it’s a cooperative issue where you can play with your peers.
So, how many big names are in Schedule 1 (do you get that?)? Well, the new simultaneous peak player count record set with 234,892 today’s set will be promoted to No. 63 on Steam’s list of biggest peaks in history, beating notable games like Rainbow Six Siege, Path of Exile, Warframe and more.
It also has only a handful of independent (or previously independent) projects such as Stardew Valley, Palworld, and Terraria, making it one of the biggest indie games to date when it comes to Peak Player counting.
For today’s spells, it was also the third and most played game on the whole platform. There were more people playing Schedule 1 than huge new releases like Inzoy and ongoing stubborns like Marvel Rivals and Russ. During this period, only Valve’s Behemoths Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 were on top of it.
The icing on the cake means players have left a large number of positive reviews. Schedule 1 currently has one of the best user ratings for all steam, with an astonishing “overwhelmingly positive” 98% score.

I love the good surprise, breakout steam hits (who wouldn’t do that?), but the open world drug trading life and management sims are really unexpected. Or is it? There’s no way to avoid the fact that GTA 6’s release date is still a few months away. You will probably be waiting for more PC players. This year there are a few games that hurt GTA itch a bit like the precincts and streams, and Schedule 1 definitely feels like one of them. Combining it with the capabilities of that cooperative, its success could have been more predictable than anyone would trust it.
