Minecraft criticized for calling out solo players "sad" In promotional messages for multiplayer subscription services.

minecraft This is the epitome of games you can play. in your way. There are many ways to get involved in the game, so it doesn’t matter what other people are doing. Vanilla, or stuffed with Minecraft mods. Single player or multiplayer. Combatable or build only. One of Minecraft’s biggest selling points is the freedom to play however you want, and the blocky foundation supports you. Unfortunately, the insensitive advertising for the game’s Realms Plus subscription left the entire player base feeling sad and alone.

Minecraft is one of the best survival games on the planet, and it’s on the list to prove it. But loyal players are upset about ads for the game’s premium Realms Plus subscription.

An in-game notification reads, “One is the loneliest number,” quoting a Harry Nilsson song in the same opening line. “Stop playing Realms alone like a sad wandering merchant. Invite your friends! Realms Plus allows up to 10 of your best friends to join you at once, so you can build a village, fight mobs, or accidentally set your house on fire…wait, don’t do that last thing.”

The first two insensitive and ignorant sentences caused outrage in the Minecraft community. “Oh my god,” one player wrote on Reddit. “Who in their right mind would greenlight this?”

Minecraft ads players find insensitive

Minecraft Realms are essentially your own private Minecraft server, giving players easy access to your world at any time. While some people opt for the Plus subscription to access multiplayer, many players take advantage of the basic package as it’s the easiest way to share the world between devices.

Minecraft Realms costs $3.99 / £3.29 per month and Minecraft Realms Plus costs $7.99 / £6.69 per month. This ad makes it look even more insensitive because it’s shaming single-player gamers while promoting this paid upgrade.

Another player emphasized that many Minecraft users are older, saying, “It’s weird to call kids who play alone sad. It’s unnecessary and probably makes some kids feel bad when video games serve as an escape for so many people. I hate being a lonely kid and picking up a game just to be called ‘sad.'”

Minecraft players are complaining about insensitive ads in the game

Many fans have pointed out that this message can have an impact on the mental health of players, especially those who use video games as a way to relax and escape from the real world. “I don’t like this message because I suffer from depression,” one player wrote. “I always play Minecraft by myself because it makes me feel good. This was definitely a bad choice by someone in the company who lacked empathy.”

“I have no friends. Companies need to understand that not everyone lives a standard life, and not everyone has family, friends, girlfriends or boyfriends to support them during difficult times. Displaying messages like that is offensive and insensitive to us, especially at Christmas, when we are reminded that we are alone.”

It’s just to show and never disrespect the players. While this ad doesn’t seem malicious, it’s just poorly thought out, and it caused a stir within the online Minecraft community and among those who received the ad.

has reached out to Mojang for comment on this ad.
