The person who provides news cannot always break the news, even when it relates to themselves.

Molly Qerim discovered that first thing when it was reported that he was leaving ESPN Morning Staples “first take” after hosting since 2015.

She said Tuesday, “Now the news came out earlier than I intended, so it wasn’t the way I wanted…

“After a lot of reflection, I decided it was time to close this incredible chapter and leave my first take. Hosting this show was one of the greatest honors of my career. Every morning I had the privilege of sharing my desk with some of the most amazing, passionate and funny voices.

Qerim, 41, declined to extend his contract, but will remain on the show until the end of the year, but was not present on Tuesday morning. Longtime “first take” analyst Stephen A. Smith praised Karim for her absence.

“She hosted the ‘first take’ for 10 years and raised the show with her bounty, her expertise and unparalleled kindness,” Smith said. “She was a big part of our success over the decade. She not only lined up me and many others, but she did it with dignity, class and kindness.”

Qerim’s exit is second in First Take this summer. Authorized analyst ESPN in July after he settled a lawsuit brought by his ex-girlfriend who accused him of sexual assault.

Qerim first worked at ESPN between 2006 and 2010 before set out for stints at CBS Sports and NFL Network. She returned to ESPN in 2015 to host “First Take.”

Although Qerim’s replacement has not been selected, the main candidate may have guest hosts “First Take,” appearing in “Sports Center” and “Around the Horn,” in addition to her main role covering the Chicago team.

Qerim’s next step has not been announced, but it has revealed that her experience with “First Take” is a positive one.

“I am so grateful for the journey that has given me. It’s a lifelong friendship, unforgettable memories and an opportunity to be part of something truly special,” she wrote on Instagram. “Thank you very much for welcoming me to your home from the bottom of my heart.

“stay tuned
