Fantasy and gaming often go hand in hand, with The Witcher, Elder Scrolls, Baldur’s Gate, and Dragon Age being pillars of the genre. Despite this, fantasy and FPS games often struggle, with only Hexen, Heretic, and Amid Evil making a big impact on the gaming world as a whole. Thankfully, there are still developers striving to solve the fantasy conundrum, and sequels are on the way. Hand of Necromancy 2 I’m here to give it a try.
We’ve already mentioned Hexen and Heretic, and the comparisons are natural: Hands of Necromancy 2 will remind you of both at the same time, combining the spell-casting action of the former with the multi-hero approach of the latter. Speaking of which, if you’ve played the first instalment in this FPS game series, the titular necromancer may be familiar to you, but now there are female characters to choose from, each with their own unique personality and weapons.
While Hands of Necromancy 2’s fantasy levels and retro feel are appealing, the main draw here is undoubtedly the magic system, with spells from the previous game like Tornado, Ring of Ice, and Unholy Hand Grenade available to use, as well as new magical abilities like Daggers, Bracelets of Fire, and Hell Grenades, which take the life of anyone they touch.
Not only can you wield magic to your heart’s content, but you also gain the ability to transform into monsters yourself. Both characters have a variety of different forms available to them, each with their own abilities to inflict pain on their enemies.
You play as a necromancer, of course, as the game’s title suggests, and no necromantic adventure is complete without reanimation. In Hands of Necromancy 2, you can revive or resurrect fallen foes to aid you on the battlefield or to protect your own life.
Hands of Necromancy 2 is out now and available to purchase with a 10% discount as an introductory offer until Monday, September 23rd.Head over to Steam to find out more about the game and see if you want to be the next big thing in the world of the undead.
