Vatican City (AP) – Important events in the life of Jorge Mario Bergolio, who passed away on Monday as Lope Francis:

December 17, 1936: Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the eldest of five children, Italian accountant Mario Jose Bergoglio and Regina Maria Sivoli, daughter of Italian immigrants.

December 13, 1969: Appointed a priest in the Jesuit religious order. He will lead him as the boss of Argentina during the country’s murderous dictatorship that began in the 1970s.

May 20, 1992: Named the Auxiliary Bishop of Buenos Aires, he succeeded Cardinal Antonio Cualashino in 1998 as the archbishop of the Argentina capital.

February 21, 2001: Promoted to Cardinal by St. John Paul II.

May 2007: Helps to draft the final document of the fifth conference of the Latin American Bishops in Apparesida, Brazil, and ultimately integrates what will become his concern as a Pope for the needs of the poor, indigenous people, the environment and the environmental church.

March 13, 2013: In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, he was elected in the first Jesuits, the first Jesuits, and the first Jesuits.
