Mexican boxing history features a generational name. From Julio Cáser Chavez, recognized as the pinnacle of Mexican boxing, he flaunted the flag of Juan Manuel Marquez, Ruben Puuas Olivarez, Salvador Sanchez, Ricardo Finito ‘Finito’ Lopez and Carlos Carros Carreto. world.

The Aztec tradition of domination was continued in great ways by Saul “Canero” Alvarez, celebrating his historic 20-year professional career that began when he made his professional debut against Abraham Gonzalez on October 29th. Twenty years later, the legacy was built on the basis of the title and big stages, Alvarez stopped to look back at his development, dreaming of becoming the world’s best king with 63 wins over the best Mexican boxing in the world.

“I accomplished everything in boxing, imagine how satisfying it would be for me,” Alvarez told Rise Espanyol during his training camp in Reno, Neveral.

The celebration is already planned and like everything else allvarez is involved, it is private, but will be “large.” Defending four belts against undefeated Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 Kos) on Saturday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, against undefeated Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 Kos) (Netflix) will depend on whether he wins or not.

“I think I did really good things in boxing and I’m extremely proud of that kid who started with the best dreams in the world,” said the 35-year-old Jalisco.

The child, as his brother, Ricardo, remembers, was no different from the other teens in Guadalajara, but with the exception of unusual obsessions, it is to succeed in a brutal and demanding sport. His journey began at a local gym under the guidance of Chepo Reynoso and his son, Eddy. It was there that Canelo Alvarez heard words that marked his destiny forever.

“The talent you have can get it where you want to go is something they always said to me, and it’s stuck with my heart,” Canelo said.

Twenty years later, Canelo says that if he can go back in time, he is still a repeating message to himself. Those words not only encouraged his hunger, they also gave him confidence.

“I’m just saying that the kid already knows what he’s going to get it where you want to go,” Canelo said.

Twenty years later, the child not only fulfilled his promise, but exceeded it. He has become a multi-disciplinary champion, a global icon and a man who continues to look ahead of everything.

The story of Canelo Alvarez is not a story of a boxer, but a story of dreams realized through discipline, sacrifice and faith. Still, as Ricardo often says, “He still has a long way to go.”

Canelo’s journey is not an improvisation or meteor, but a project shaped by perseverance and discipline. Eddie, who has been Canelo’s trainer since puberty, recalls what he has always learned alongside Canelo.

“In 2000, I started training boxers with my dad. The first amateur and professional experts. We formed a group of children and teenagers. That’s where Searle was born,” Eddie said.

That connection, fake at the Jalisco gym, was the beginning of one of the most successful partnerships in boxing history. Eddie was inspired by figures such as Julian Magdaleno and Raphael Mendoza.

“I always imagined myself as an important person in boxing,” Eddie said. “And together with Saul, we achieved that.”

Over his two-year career, Canelo has risen in weight class, stage and demand. He did so by facing Miguel Cott, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Jennady Golovkin.

He suffered from the defeat of his first career with Mayweather in 2013, but it was the battle that paved the way for success not only as a champion, but also as an entrepreneur and businessman.

But it holds a special place in Canelo’s heart.

“It was very emotional for me because of a lot of the things surrounding the fight,” Canelo said. “I made sure I was better than him. (It was a very special moment.”

Eddie agrees that the night was a high point.

“He was very happy when he defeated Golovkin in the second round. And while all the victory was meaningful, even in his early four-round battles, the victory over ‘GGG’ was special. ”

Little by little, Canelo learned from his mistakes and cleared the path to becoming the economic and sports powerhouse of today. Along the way, he was the first to become a superstar, went up to light heavyweight and miscalculated by losing for the second time in his career.

The darkest moments of his career came in 2018 when he was by the Nevada Athletic Committee to be positive for the banned substance clenbuterol. According to Canelo’s team, this was due to contaminated meat they ate during their visit to Mexico. Clenbuterol is sometimes used in cattle feed to increase muscle mass.

Beyond belts, million-dollar wallets and fame, Canelo’s career has been supported by an unwavering family, especially during difficult times.

“It’s been a long 20-year career,” said Ricardo, one of Canelo’s six older brothers. “We’ve always been united in supporting him. He’s become the boxing star, the face of boxing. We’re very proud of him, we’re very proud of what he’s achieved and what he still has to achieve.

The family celebrated all victory and accompanied him through all obstacles. For them, the fight with Crawford is not just a sporting challenge, it is also a family reunion.

“We intend to come together and more than anything else, celebrate with our friends and teams, with great happiness together with our families.

The memory of the Alvarez family has moments that define their history. Ricardo recalled one of them particularly clearly. On the night they went to the movie and went to see “Cinderella Man,” they watched the film “Cinderella Man,” about James J. Braddock, a boxer who worked hard to fight for a world title during the Great Depression.

As they left the room, Ricardo asked his brother.

Canelo recalled telling his brother: “I wanted to be as successful as that boxer, but I fought at the world championships at the biggest stage and at a different ending.”

With his career that took Canelo to MGM Grand in Las Vegas and to Madison Square Garden, the T-Mobile arena, Canelo recognizes his goal has been achieved.

“Now, we talked about it after all these years, so he said to me, ‘And what do you think? I’ve already fought at the best stage.’ And yes, he’s achieved it all,” Ricardo said.

Saturday’s environment will once again be monumental: the Allegant Stadium in Las Vegas. Crawford will be waiting for him. Crawford is considered by many to be the best pound-pound fighter of today.

For Eddie, this fight represents a clash of style and power.

“A great battle is coming between the two world’s biggest powers, Mexico and the US. It shows that Mexican schools are the best,” Eddie said.

Ricardo also recognizes the magnitude of the challenge. “(Canelo) had a big fight with Cott, Golovkin and Mayweather. But you can feel what this fight means in the atmosphere. It’s the biggest fight of today and will surprise people.”

Canelo takes it boldly on his side.

“It means a lot to me to continue fighting in big battles at a stadium that is as important as the Alegiant,” he said. “I’m happy and excited to be there.”

It is still unclear how Canelo will celebrate October 29th and his 20 years of boxing.

Eddy is envisaged to take part in the celebration with a celebratory victory.

“I’m going to win this fight with a knockout,” Eddie promises.
