Staying as a boss in fromsoftware is part of the experience. When I first came up with Ornstein and Smough, I was absolutely destroyed, but it was my patience and willingness to try new strategies that would help me beat them. This tenacity is so necessary Sekiro: Shadow dies twiceBut what if you decide to stay with one boss forever? Well, that’s exactly what this player has done for almost a year. Because they document their experiences while waiting for Software to bring more games into their lives.
With the release date for Elden Ring Nightrign, we have almost all of our software, Multiplayer Twist on the Soulslike Game Formula. I promise to be very new to the studio behind Dark Souls, but it’s not the first time that it’s done something very different. 2019 Sekiro: Shadows Die moved the developer’s focus into action-oriented combat with key prosthetic devices for posture, balance, nally and victory. Appearing six years after Sekiro fell, one dedicated player conquering one of the game’s most difficult bosses until FromSoftware gets attention.
The YouTube channel “Kill Inner Isshin Anyriwe” does exactly what the name implies. On Marks Trial 328 on Saturday, March 15th, each was uploaded to the Daily Channel since 2024. A dedicated player known on Twitch as “Vargas151_” says he’s doing this. Considering they’ve become almost a year, I think they’re doing very well (via Recetera).
However, there are a few rules to make things interesting. They can only use swords. That is, there is no prosthetics, healing, items, combat art, resurrection, or appeal. The inevitable chip damage caused by inverting the lighting is permitted, but that’s it. Another Sekiro boss might actually be difficult, but that doesn’t mean you can deny the skills and dedication that are on display here.
There have been no DLC or sequels for many years since Sekiro, but Software has at least revisited it. Updates from 2020 added boss lash mode, the ability to leave messages and recordings, and fewer unlockable cosmetic skins.
If you’ve never played a game but love to give it a try, now is the time. Sekiro: Shadows Die is 50% off steam until Thursday, March 20th, so expect to pay $29.99/£24.95 up until then. Head towards here.
There are also all the best action and single player games if you want to keep busy until the software game arrives.
