Evotinction is a game that immediately brings to mind many other titles: Dead Space, System Shock, and even Watch Dogs, all of which are fused together into a cyberpunk mish-mash that still has its own identity that sets it apart from the crowd. Evotinction is a stealth hacking title in which you stop an AI from wiping out humanity, and it’s out now on Steam.
What really sets Evotinction apart from other similar games is its main character. Like Half-Life, the main character isn’t a soldier or a warrior. He’s just a doctor, so it makes sense that this is a stealth game – you can’t just charge in guns blazing, after all. Instead, he has hacking abilities that will come in handy as he battles enemy AI.
Hack security systems, hide your presence from enemies, and rewrite your action routines to get to your destination and avoid being blown away by patrolling robots. Think Aiden Pearce from Watch Dogs, but less fussy. And you’ll see how Evotinction handles hacking. The ability to control the systems around you is your main weapon, helping you stay safe, hide, and achieve your objectives.
The other side of the story is just that – a story. Developer Spikewave Games hints that there’s more going on than meets the eye. Sure, there’s a rogue AI trying to wipe out all of humanity on Earth, but there are also some questions that need to be answered. As you make your way through the research facility that houses this murderous AI, you’ll find out exactly what’s going on and who’s responsible for it all.
Evotinction is available now, and to celebrate the launch we’re offering a 10% discount until Thursday, September 26th.If you want to give this game a try and see if it suits your cyberpunk tastes, head over to Steam for more information.
