As I get older, I find myself daydreaming about model trains more and more. Maybe it’s in the DNA of many of us, but the idea of seeing miniature trains has become more appealing with every passing year. I’ve satisfied that urge with classics like Transport Tycoon, but now Sweet Transit It fills that void in my life, and this pure expression of building a massive railroad network just got better thanks to an incredible update and a ton of new DLC trains.
Developed by a single developer, Sweet Transit is everything you’d expect from a sophisticated railroad construction game, but it takes it a step further by incorporating city-building elements. Transportation often dictates how cities develop, so it makes sense to have a railroad game that lets you shape the look of your settlement and the world around you. It’s a bit like a cross between Factorio and Cities Skylines, but with railroads at its core.
Sweet Transit’s latest free patch is out now, and it adds one key element that really takes train games to the next level: electricity. Of course, the update electrifies trains, but that’s not all. An entire electrical system is now in the game, along with the infrastructure to support it. Power plants, turbines, and more are all available, as well as two all-new electric trains to deploy. These trains have unique stats that set them apart from the rest.
In addition to the excitement that runs through the game, a new DLC has also been released. Titled the Locomotive Pack, this DLC includes several items and engines that give you more options and make things a little easier. This includes everything from bullet trains to jet trains, as well as a number of settlement decoration items that will help make your town look spiffy and sparkly.
Sweet Transit’s Electrifying Update and Locomotive Pack DLC are both out now, and you can also purchase the base game for 50% off until Monday, September 23rd.To find out about the new features and major changes made to the game, head over to Steam’s announcement post and read on.
