Fans pay in quite a few and a fair amount, watching teams on SportsNet LA: Home Team and Home Channel.
But it’s not Friday when Clayton Kershaw takes the mound for what.
The exclusive broadcast rights of the game belong to Apple TV+ as part of the Friday night game package purchased from Major League Baseball. According to league officials, Apple is guaranteed to have at least four exclusive broadcasts for teams that choose to broadcast. Friday’s game will be the Dodgers’ fourth on Apple TV+ this season, so it will remain exclusive to Apple.
Alternative Apple games on Friday include the Toronto Blue Jays. Just as it became clear that the Blue Jays could win a playoff spot on Friday, Apple and MLB have agreed that SportsNet, the equivalent of Blue Jays’ SportsNet LA, can air simultaneous Apple TV+ broadcasts. (The changes were announced Thursday morning, making it impossible for Toronto to clinch on Friday, once the Jays’ defeat and the Cleveland Guardians win.)
However, the Jays will be broadcasting five exclusive Apple TV+ broadcasts this season.
This is not the first bit of Dodgers’ history, limited to Apple’s audiences. In 2022, the game was Apple.
The man who called Apple’s Pujols game calls Apple’s Kershaw game.
Kershaw, an 11-time All-Star and three-time CY Young Award winner, said Thursday. After a weekend series against the San Francisco Giants, where Kershaw is scheduled to start Friday’s game, the Dodgers finished the regular season on Road. The Dodgers have not said what role Kershaw will play in the playoff roster.
Fans can sign up for a 7-day free trial of Apple TV+. (If you sign up just to watch the car show, you will need to cancel within a 7-day window. Or you will be charged $12.99 per month.)
