Charlie Coyle had goals and two assists in the third period of Colorado’s four goals, and the Avalanche defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-2 on Sunday night.
Jack Dooley had goals and assists. Wyatt Amodo and Eric Johnson also scored for Colorado, chasing 2-0 midway through the third. Scott Wedgwood saved 18 times.
The avalanche, trapped in a first-round matchup with Dallas, brought several stars to rest, including Nathan McKinnon, Arttuli Reconnen, Kale McCal, Jonathan Druin and Valeri Nichschkin.
Mason McTavish and Sam Colangello scored, and Lucas Dostal finished with 20 saves as the Ducks lost for the second straight time.
Aamodt played in his second NHL game, when a shot from the right circle deflected from the skate of Ducks defensive man Pavel Mintukov, earning an avalanche on the scoreboard with 9:55 left.
Drury tied 2-2 with a power play goal with 5:26 left from the slot.
With the remaining 2:09 coil to put Colorado first, Johnson sealed it off with an empty netter in the final minute.
McTavish gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead, leaving them with their first 1:08 in 22nd place of the season.
Colangelo doubled his lead at 7:35, 2 seconds, in just one second, after the Ducks Power Play expired.
