Dennis Boanga converted a penalty kick in the 90th minute to pull LAFC into a 3-3 draw against the Portland Timbers on Saturday night.
Felipe Mora scored twice for the Timbers, who remained unbeaten in their final six games. Portland has not lost in Nashville since March 8th.
Olivier Giroud scored his first goal in league play for LAFC. Los Angeles coach Steve Cerundro was handed a red card in the second half.
Friday, the team following the 2025 season. In his fourth season at LAFC, he said he plans to return to Germany with his family. Cerundo led Los Angeles to the MLS Cup title in 2022.
It seemed that LAFC scored in two minutes of the game, but that was called offside. Portland went on to the nine minutes when Mora converted a penalty kick after being boxed by LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
After some time, another LAFC goal was overridden by an offside call.
The timber went 2-0 in the 42nd minute with Santiago Moreno’s goal from the center of the box, avoiding Loris and defender Sergi Palencia.
LAFC pulled one back before halftime with Giro’s first MLS goal with a free kick just outside the penalty area. The French then kneeled in the field and pointed with both hands towards the sky.
LAFC tied the match in two with a goal from David Martínez in the 62nd minute, but Mora responded quickly with a header that again advanced Portland on the 64th.
Jonathan Rodriguez made the Timbers’ season debut as a second half replacement. He was on the sidelines with a knee injury.
