As someone who has spent an embarrassing number of hours immersed in Vermintide 2, warhammer 40k: darktide A truly great spiritual successor. Developed by Fatshark, who created both Vermintide games, Darktide’s brutal sci-fi action remains exciting and engaging even after playing for over 50 hours. If you haven’t tried it yet, now is the perfect time to do so, as this chaotic looting shooter has hit its lowest price in celebration of Warhammer Day 2025.
Like Vermintide, Warhammer 40k: Darktide puts a brutalist sci-fi twist on the best FPS gaming formula, focusing on cooperative action and hordes of enemies to defeat. Granted, it wasn’t always like that. The game launched with performance issues and balance issues, making it difficult to recommend. But now…that’s a different story.
Looking back at my 7/10 review of Warhammer 40k: Darktide shows just how much has changed. Ian says, “For all of Dark Tide’s great world-building and dynamic, team-play-based violence, it’s often sidelined by a host of technical issues that still hit like a plague.” That core excellence is still there, but now actually It’s playable and always great.
It also helps that this is one of the best co-op games for non-stop horde-killing action, similar to games like Left 4 Dead. You play as one of four classes: Veteran, Zealot, Psyker, and Ogryn (there’s a fifth Arbites class, but it’s protected by a paywall) and are sorted into different roles on your team. Ogryns are standard tank-style colossi that hit as hard as they look, while relatively weak psykers attack hard with melee weapons and warp damage while casting spells with their staffs.
I can’t say enough about how great this action is. Each time you complete a level, your loot library fills up, making subsequent (and more difficult) runs easier. However, everything feel, Fatshark uses Vermintide 2’s solid loop to make Darktide’s melee and ranged combat extremely satisfying.
After many updates, Warhammer 40k: Darktide is better than ever and available to buy from Fanatical for just $15.99 / £13.19. This is the lowest price ever. Alternatively, the Imperial Edition, which includes select skins, class outfits and premium currency, is just £20.99 / £17.49, making it an equally attractive offer.
But hurry, because this deal ends the next day. October 30, 2025, 11:00 AM PT / 2:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM GMT.
