Tito JacksonJackson Jackson, one of the founding members of the legendary band Jackson 5, has died at the age of 70, the family’s former manager has confirmed. Steve Manning.
According to Tonight’s EntertainmentThe musician died after suffering a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma on Sunday, September 15. The official cause of death has not been determined at the time of writing.
His death was also announced early Monday by his three sons. Taj, Tariruand T.J. — on an Instagram account dedicated to their musical group, 3T. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, is no longer with us.”
They continued, “We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about and wanted the best for all. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson of the legendary Jackson 5, others as ‘Coach Tito’ or ‘Poppa T’. We will miss him dearly and he will always be ‘Tito’s.'”
“Remember to practice what my dad always preached: love one another. We love you, Dad,” the caption concluded, signed, “Your boys, Taj, Taryll and TJ.”
Tito, along with his brother, was a founding member of the Jackson 5. Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and MichaelThe group rose to fame in the late 1960s and 1970s with hits such as “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” “I’ll Be There” and “I Want You Back,” all of which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
The Jackson 5 received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1980 and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
In 2003, Tito began his solo career, performing and touring blues and funk music around the world. He has also toured with the BB King Blues Band, with notable tours in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In his 2021 cover interview, Blues Blast In the magazine, Tito described his passion for blues music: “The blues is what got me interested in guitar.”
In his later years, he released two solo albums. Tit Time In 2016, we will focus on R&B and soul music. Under your spell In 2021, the focus will be on blues music.
Tito continues to work with the Jacksons, and this summer he toured with his brothers Jackie and Marlon and son Taryll. Their most recent show was in Surrey, England on September 8th, and their next dates are scheduled for Atlantic City, New Jersey on October 25th and Cincinnati, Ohio on November 1st.
Tito is survived by his three sons, who were members of the R&B group 3T, which he formed in 1994 and managed; his brothers Jermaine and RandyMarlon, Jackie, and his sisters Janet, mainand LaToyaand her mother, CatherineTito is also survived by many grandchildren. His father was Joe Jacksonpassed away in 2018, and his ex-wife Delores “Dee Dee” TuesdayHe died in 1994.
