On Friday, the White House hanged a picture of President Trump depicting the moments after his assassination attempt last summer.
The Obama portrait was displayed in the state floor lobby near the stairs in the presidential residence after it was released in 2022. The White House says it is still in the foyer, but moved to the opposite wall where a portrait of former President George W. Bush once hung.
The plan is to move the Bush portrait near his father, former President George HW Bush.
Tradition has portraits of the two recent presidents hanging in the foyer.
The new painting, which is the White House, captures the aftermath of Trump’s attempts in life at a July rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
It became the call for a key rally in his successful reelection campaign.
Trump’s portrait was hung without prior notice, which is unusual, but Trump’s position is unique in that he is now and former president. That’s a situation the US has never seen since Glover Cleveland served as a discontinued condition in the 1880s and 1890s.
Then President Biden and his wife Jill welcomed former President Obama and his wife Michelle to the White House in 2022 to present their Obama portrait.
Regardless of his party affiliation, the current president often sleazyly hosted his predecessor at the unveiling ceremony. That’s what Democrat Bill Clinton did for Republican George HW Bush, and what President Bush did for Clinton.
Obamas hosted George W. Bush and his wife Laura in the White House in 2012, except for the official portrait of Bush.
There was an unexplained pause when Trump did not host Obama during his first term.
