Walmart Stock (WMT) has up Monday’s trading session 2.47% after Klarna announced its announcement that it would declare its new “Now Now, Pay Lath” service. AFFIRM stock (AFRM) fell 4.2% in response to this after the announcement, and the stock fell 15.8% when the market opened. Klarna will be available via Finance App OnePay on Walmart’s online and physical checkout, according to a statement on Monday.
“This is a game changer,” said Sebastian Siemiatkowski, CEO of Klarna. The agreement gives Klarna access to the new expansion path in the US with millions of customers of Big Box Retailer. For Walmart, the announcement is the latest in a series of improvements the retail giant is trying to build on its successful 2024. Klarna is a growing platform that has 24% boosted revenues for digital payments companies announced by Stockholm last year. The move was right as both companies have had a great year.
Following the announcement of team-up, Walmart and Klarna will climb
With the rapid growth of the e-commerce industry, Walmart (WMT) has emerged as a top company in both digital and in-person shopping. The transition to Klarna will support both sales methods for WMT. Klarna said Monday that she will work with Walmart-backed Consumer Finance App OnePay to offer installment loans for purchases at retailers. Walmart US customers and members will be provided with flexible payment options for online and in-store purchases. Additionally, once installment loans are approved, Walmart US customers can choose from repayment terms ranging from 3 to 36 months, and manage their loans via the OnePay app.
Klarna applied for an IPO list last week to the New York Stock Exchange, but details on the number of shares offered and pricing have not yet been announced. If the company is publicly traded, the stock could soon be extremely valuable, following its partnership with America’s largest wholesale retailer.
Affirm was also a hit following Klarna’s IPO submission. This means the worry time for AFRM stocks first. Despite the impressive performance that stocks close 2024 and enter 2025, the drop from Walmart may cause more stocks to fall over throughout the rest of the week.
