Thunder of war It’s about mastering the machine of death. Whether it’s a blow-off in a tank, engaged in naval battles with warships, or a dog fight in the sky with an airplane. But what you never see is the army charged around the battlefield – that’s up to now. AI-controlled infantry is now added to War Thunder, but debuts in Gaijin’s idea of April Fool’s Day prank.
Warthunder’s huge roster of tanks, planes and battleships have all been welcomed since World War II and beyond, but the new limited time event brings things back even faster. Title: “The Great War” this new event will drop you on the western front of WW1 in a new fleet and aviation vehicles of the era.
The War Game has added seven brand new vehicles that can be unlocked by completing both the Alliance (British, French, Soviet) and German Empire stages in separate events over a week-long event. These are unlocked for use even after the event ends, so you can get them in other game modes throughout War Thunder.
However, there are bonus air chickens that can be piloted, but they cannot be unlocked. Both sides have access to bomber planes, and there are also giant Zeppelin that controls them as well. These airships can drop huge payloads into the battlefield.
However, you will notice more than just a WW1 machine. This is because the brand’s new features debuted for the first time at the event. War Thunder has infantry and you’ll see AI-controlled soldiers jumping out of the trench and charging into enemy boundaries. They even attack opposing land vehicles with hand rena bullets, so they pose a threat and are not just as immersion or new to target your tank cannon.
Gaijin says, “Now, a massive closed beta test of infantry begins,” but says the war is meant to be an early showcase of what these units can do and how they bring a new dimension to the battle of Thunder.

Players have long reported that infantry will be added to Warthunder despite their focus on vehicles, and while it is encouraging to see it happen in the end, it is rather entertaining (and unsettling) to see it launch alongside the WW1-themed April Fool’s Day Mode. If this turns out to be a very Elaborate pranks and infantry are literally just for this World War II event. I think Gaijin has some pretty frustrating fans (and some pretty frustrating gaming journalists).
The War Thunder War event is currently live and runs until Monday, April 7th. If you’re a WW1 fan (maybe you’re a battlefield 1 fun like me), don’t forget that War Thunder is a free Steam game and you can dive in without paying a dime.
However, if it’s not yours, then the list of the best multiplayer games may contain something more suitable for you. Introducing this year’s drops in this year’s PC Games Guide.
