Vatican City (AP) – Pope Francis, who passed away Monday, had an informal, light-hearted speaking style. He then created the words in a combination of Italian and Spanish from his native country, which he spoke to the Pope.

Some of his memorable quotes:

A simple first greeting

“Good evening, brothers and sisters!” – Francis’ first words delivered from the loggia of St. Peter’s Cathedral after his clergy election on March 13, 2013.

Pleas to remember the poor

“When the vote reached two-thirds, the Pope was elected, so there was a normal applause. He hugged and kissed me and said, “Don’t forget you’re poor!” And the poor think about the poor. -Francis spoke to journalists on March 16, 2013, and how Cardinal Claudio Hanmes gave him the idea to choose the name Francis.

Pleas for Mercy

“Recently, I was able to read a book about the mercy of Cardinal Cardinal, Cardinal Casper, and the Good Theologian. And while this book has done a lot of good things to me, I am not just promoting for Cardinal Books! That’s not so good. It’s even fair.” – March 17, 2013, Francis’ first Angelus prayer from the studio window. ___

Greetings to Benedict

“We are brothers.” – Francis, when he first met Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI after the election, on March 23, 2013, at Castel Gandolfo’s Pope Summer residence. ___

Welcome phrases

“Who do I judge?” – Francis answered a question about a gay priest, in a comment on July 28, 2013, setting the tone of the Pope that would be more welcoming to LGBTQ+ Catholics, ___

Greetings to the head of the family

“We are brothers.” – Francis, to Kirill, the Patriarch of the Kirill, on February 13, 2016, during his first pontificate meeting with the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church at Havana Airport. ___

Message about the sacrament

“In certain cases this may include sacramental help. Therefore, “I would like to remind the priest that confession should not be a torture chamber, but rather an encounter with the Lord’s mercy.” Also, the Eucharist “is not a prize for the perfect person, but a powerful medicine and nutrition for the weak” – footnote 351 (footnote 351 in “Amoris Latitia” (the joy of love”).

Outreach to Islam

“The meeting is a message.” – Francis met Sheikh Ahmed Al Teyeb, the grand imam of Al Azhar, the prestigious Sunni Muslim learning centre, on May 23, 2016, after a long freeze in relations.

About criticism

“If Americans attack me, it’s an honor.” – Francis’ Quip to French journalist Nicholas Senaise, boarding the Pope’s plane on Senaise’s book, “How America Wants to Change the Pope,” September 4, 2019, referring to conservative US criticism.

About the pandemic

“We found ourselves on the same boat. We are all fragile and confused, but at the same time it is important and necessary, and we all call together to row together. – Francis, 27 March 2020, praying for the end of the coronavirus pandemic in St. Peter Square.

About the Indigenous People

“I’m sorry. I’m particularly sought forgiveness for how many members of the church and religious community worked together on projects of cultural destruction and forced assimilation promoted by the government at the time, particularly through indifference. – Francis apologized for indigenous abuse at a Canadian residential school on July 25, 2022, at the former school location in Muskwasis, Alberta.

It’s Argentina

“I don’t know if you’re familiar with this theological cultural history, or if the guardian angels of some countries said they were angry at God, and it is said that God had thought a little.

About homosexuality

“Being gay is not a crime.” – Francis mentions a country that criminalizes homosexuality, and a country that criminalizes January 24, 2023.
