world of tanks has a long and storied history of amazing collaborations, but this might be the most “wait…seriously?” of them all. Still in that moment. Benedict Cumberbatch – yes, the one-of-a-kind person who excels at portraying the arrogant, charismatic, clumsy yet intimidating genius – joins one of the best tank games of all time as the official face of Holiday Ops 2026. If you’ve been hoping for a cool, strategic British actor to guide you through a snow-covered battlefield, Christmas has come early.
This World of Tanks event will start on December 5, 2025 and run until January 12, 2026, and will feature the usual intense missions, decorations, and seasonal rewards. But of course, the central character is Benedict Cumberbatch himself, who greets you with the same calming charm that he’s brought to literally every character he’s ever played. But don’t fix it if it’s not broken. He gives special celebratory assignments and offers his own brand of solid wisdom. And yes, you can unlock him as a complete in-game commander, complete with original voice lines and that fun and excellent British accent. There’s something to be expected between a “strategic leader” and a “warmly resentful British uncle.” I can understand the atmosphere.
In true Wargaming tradition, Holiday Ops 2026 is more than just an in-game celebration. It comes in conjunction with an all-new cinematic short film. This time the story is about Sebastian, a terribly shy office worker who is in love with his co-worker Sarah, but is afraid he can’t do anything about it. Office crashes are a story as old as corporate open spaces. Benedict Cumberbatch appears as a fun, quirky therapist, slash, motivator, and spirit guide (if your IRL therapist behaves like that, dump them immediately) who bravely guides Sebastian through unconventional ways…overwhelming chaos?
And you may be wondering what this whole story has to do with tanks. That’s a good question. At the end of the trailer, a tank randomly crashes into an office. There. I don’t know what to say. It makes no sense, but since Benedict Cumberbatch is in it, that’s reason enough to watch this trailer.
The actor himself seems genuinely excited to be a part of the festivities, highlighting his love for game strategy, teamwork, and thinking several steps ahead. If there’s anyone who can add panache to a holiday event with exploding presents and glittering cannons, it’s him.
For those who have been riding tankers for years, this year’s event will feel like a fun change. If you’re a newbie, well… being welcomed by Benedict Cumberbatch in a snowy garage is a hell of a rookie experience. Personally, I can’t say no.
