It’s time for a rematch in high school basketball. On Thursday night in the Southern California region, Chatsworth and Westchester each won the Division II quarterfinals match, setting up a rematch for the City Section Open Division Finals and another meeting for Aliya Arenas and Taj Aliza.
“I have something for the Taj,” said Arenas after 38 points in a 80-59 victory over Francis Parker.
The game will be played on a site announced on Saturday night. Chatsworth lost to Westchester in the City Finals.
Westchester was scared before working overtime at 71-63 Cleveland. Ty Ingram scored 20 points and Ariza scored 17 points.
Arena won almost every basket in layups. He also worked well in the defense, holding Tavid Johnson at 7 points, averaging 26.5 points per game he entered Thursday. Amon Andrews made nine or three and scored 31 points for Frances Parker.
The city section continues to work well in the state playoffs.
Granada Hills 55, Fairfax 44: The Highlanders made progress in Division IV. Julius Washington scored 16 points.
Sun Valley Poly 75, Bernstein 51: Parrot will move to the Division IV semi-finals and will be holding Granada Hills on Saturday.
Riverside Poly 68, St. Augustine 67: A winning shot by Chris Holland at the buzzer sent Poly to the Southern Section Division II semi-finals. The Netherlands scored 30 points.
Redondo Union 91, Aramitos 63: Braden Minor scored 20 points, Hudson Mays scored 19 points and Chris Sanders scored 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the Division I quarterfinals match.
Sierra Canyon 78, Santa Barbara 45: Bryce Cofield scored 18 points and Maxio Adams scored 17 points, and the pioneers advanced to the Division I semi-finals against JSERRA.
79, Carlsbad 54: The Lions scored 25 points from Brannon Martinsen and 20 points from BJ Davisley in a Division I victory.
Mira Costa 44, Torrey Pines 39: The Mustangs will advance to the Division I semi-finals and have a rematch with Bay League champion Redondo Union.

Granada Hills 53, Santai Nez 29: The Highlanders made progress in Division IV behind freshman Alana Yek, who scored 15 points.
Fairmont Prep 63, Harvard West Lake 56: The Huskys gathered for Division I victory.
