It’s set to be really the year of bumpers for Take-Two (if the GTA 6 sticks to the current release window, that is,) and Mafia Old Country It is one main name for stacked slates. It has been a long time since we were waiting for a new mafia game, and this entry has been excited to take us to authentically recreated Sicily and explore the origins of the mob. Previously, they were given a wide summer window for 2025, but the Steam blog post appears to have revealed the exact date it would drop.
After months of mafia and after the silence of the old country, 2K and developer Hungar 13 confirmed today that upcoming open world games will appear in Pax East with a dedicated panel in a few weeks. During the panel, you will get a first glimpse into the gameplay with a new trailer, learn more about it, get to “see the development process exclusively behind the scenes” and adjust it to the developer’s Q&A. Like all of this, Mafia’s confirmation of the release date of the old country is widely expected.
Well, it looks like someone has jumped over the gun. Although the release date is not mentioned in the English post, a Steam article that announces Pax East News in other languages does so.
For example, the Latam version of the post discovered by insider games and translated from Spanish to English by PCGamesn, states that “Mafia: Old Countries are available on August 8, 2025.” They also state that pre-orders are currently live, which is of course wrong. This important information will be revealed in the Pax East panel and appears to have been accidentally left behind.
It’s a shame to see such exciting news coming prematurely, but there’s still a lot to look forward to at least the actual panel. I can’t wait to see the depiction of Sicily Hangar 13 in the early 1900s.
So you have it: Mafia Old Country is set to launch on Friday, August 8th. As mentioned before, it is part of a rather remarkable lineup of games from 2K’s parent company Take-Two. This year we’re pushing the PGA Tour 2K25 and Civilization 7 through the door, so by the end of the year the new Mafia, GTA 6 release date, Borderlands 4, and the new NBA 2K games have all arrived.
